HI KIDS! 😊
HOW ARE YOU TODAY?
HOPE YOU HAD A WONDERFUL WEEKEND!
TODAY WE WILL BE WORKING ON:
LANGUAGE AND SCIENCE
LANGUAGE:
Open your book at pages 112 and 113, please:
SCIENCE:
Let´s keep on with ecosystems!
Depending on
what they eat, we can put animals (consumers) into 3 groups:
· Animals that
eat plants and vegetables are called HERBIVORES.
Ex.: horse, rabbit,
squirrel, etc.
· Animals that
eat other animals (meat) are called CARNIVORES.
Ex.: lion, crocodile,
shark, etc.
· Animals that
are both herbivores and carnivores are called OMNIVORES.
Ex.: human, bear,
bird, etc.
· DECOMPOSERS eat waste or dead organisms
Preys and Predators
· Animals that
eat other animals are called PREDATORS. All predators hunt other animals for
food.
· The animals
that a predator hunts are called its PREY.
· Example: a fox
eats a rabbit. The predator is the fox and the prey is the rabbit.
· Many animals
that are prey are plant-eaters. For ex.: rabbits eat grass.
BIOMES
BIOMES are
large ecosystems with generally the same climate and organisms.
1. LAND BIOMES:
- Tropical Rainforest: a
lot of water, warm
- Deciduous forest: cool and dry
- Grasslands: full of grass
- Taiga (forest): cold
and fairly dry
- Deserts: very hot
(day), very cold (night); very dry
- Tundra (desert): very
cold and very dry
2. WATER BIOMES:
- Rivers
- Wetlands
- Coral reefs
- Deep sea
